Early Life
Alyssa dealt with being bullied all her life which resulted in her self harming herself (most of the time through cutting herself; something that she got used to doing even after she moved out of New York) and her only escape from reality was being in a racing enviroment which would ultimately turn out into her wanting to be a crew chief in NASCAR.
NASCAR Career
Alyssa was offered a job of being a NASCAR crew chief with then known as Penske Racing for the 2007 season where she was a crew chief for the No. 2 Miller Lite Nextel Cup car driven by Kurt Busch. Alyssa's first race with Busch was on February 18, 2007 at Daytona International Speedway; Busch started in the fourth position and finished 41st. In August, her team went on to win at Pocono Raceway (and getting another win a couple of weeks later at Michigan International Speedway) and finished 7th in the Nextel Cup points standings.
In 2010, as well as being a Cup crew chief, Alyssa went down into the Nationwide Series and became the crew chief for driver Justin Allgaier; the two grabbed one win during the 2010 season at Bristol Motor Speedway in March 20, 2010.
At the beginning of the 2012 season, Alyssa became the Cup crew chief for A.J. Allmendinger when he joined Penske Racing after Kurt got fired. During the after math of A.J.'s suspension Alyssa became the crew chief for interm driver Sam Hornish Jr. (the same person who she became the full time crew chief for in the Nationwide Series in 2013) and became the full time Cup crew chief for Joey Logano for the 2013 Cup season when he joined the organization.
In April 2013 Alyssa got penalized, alongside the 22 and 2 teams of Penske Racing at Texas Motor Speedway for having illegal rear end housings on the cars. Alyssa was fined $100,00, been placed on probation to the end of the 2013 calendar year and had been originally suspended for six NASCAR Sprint Cup championship races (including the All-Star Race) and six Nationwide Series races. After the final appeal, her suspensions have been shortened to two NASCAR Sprint Cup championship races (including the All-Star Race) and two Nationwide Series races.
Personal Life
Alyssa missed four races during the 2009 season due to self harming herself and cutting her wrist at the wrong part of it; it resulted in her needing multiple blood transfusions.
Alyssa has half sleeve tattoos on her forearms, something that she got after leaving the hospital to cover up the scars on her wrist.
On December 14, 2013 Alyssa married boyfriend (and her driver in the Sprint Cup Series) Joey Logano; the couple have been together since October 31, 2010.
